What is Active TB?

There are two types of TB – Latent TB and Active TB

Indication for an Active TB Bacteria is a positive TB Skin test or a positive blood test along with an abnormal chest x-ray or a positive sputum smear test. 

People diagnosed with an Active Tuberculosis disease are contagious and can spread the bacteria through air.

People with Active TB show proper Symptoms of tuberculosis –

  • Throat cough that lasts for 3 weeks or longer
  • Night sweats
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Constant Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Sometimes ‘coughing up of blood’
  • Weakness
